OUR STORY
Salon Carina provides convenience with a stress free location.
Salon Carina evolved from the days of working and managing a busy city salon and working freelance for various promotional companies doing anything from bread commercials to private functions. South Africa is very multi cultural and I had the opportunity to do Muslim, Hindu, Greek, Jewish and African weddings and functions. All very different and beautiful in their own way.
Having run my business from my home salon for the last 12 years it is now time to expand and incorporate all the services that are required for a total look.
Expectations from customers in the past have been; to do their hair and make up and then dress them. Sort out their imperfections and always make them look beautiful.
I suppose this holistic approach has always stuck with me and even when when I ran my salon from home I went the extra mile to make sure that skin tone was even over a brides décolleté, arms and hands. Getting rid of strap lines and blemishes and making them glow.
Customers loose their inhibitions when I am working with them because they realise that you can provide a look that they could never achieve themselves. It is a totally professional service.
Salon Carina services include hairstyling, make-up, nails, brows, lashes, hair pieces and extensions.
My qualifications are:
Masters in Hairdressing

Carina Tuxworth
Managing Director / Head Stylist
I passed my trade test in 1989 and have been a successful qualified hairdresser for 26years. Starting out with an apprenticeship at Carlton Hair International in Johannesburg then moving to Jeauval in 1989 where I became Salon Manager. I got the opportunity to travel to Dubai for work and did hair for the Princess of Bahrain. I was also involved in doing hair for news presenters and celebrities. I worked closely with the South African Hairdressing Association and was a ‘wise man’ in competition judging for the National Championships in hairdressing.
I moved to Louth in 2002 and took the year off. I then started my hairdressing business from my house salon in 2003 until relocating to Louth Golf club to my new premises in 2015. The business has never been advertised and has grown from strength to strength through word of mouth.
I feel strongly that hair is only one aspect of grooming. So, by combining hair, make-up and nails, my clients will have a one stop shop for all their beauty needs at my new salon.
I have always been involved in wedding and event hair and now can offer clients a total look solution with the use of hairpieces and accessories to ensure my customers have the look they want to make any event extra special.
TESTIMONIALS
Carina has created some lovely 'put-ups' for special occasions, which have looked great and lasted well!
My daughter also has her hair cut and styled, she is 4 and half, again Carina has always made her feel very relaxed, happy and has come away feeling pleased with how she looks.
With love x
